- Understanding “Excess”
The Excess is the maximum out-of-pocket cost a renter may need to pay in the event of a claim. For example, if there is damage to the vehicle or it is stolen, the renter will only pay up to USD 500 for the repairs or replacement. Any costs exceeding this amount are covered by Island Explorer Holidays’ insurance.
Example:
- If damage repair costs USD 700, the renter pays USD 500 (Excess), and Island Explorer covers the remaining USD 200.
- If repair costs are USD 200 (below excess value of USD 500), the renter pays USD 200.

The following are not covered under this policy:
- Negligent or Reckless Driving: Any incidents resulting from reckless, drunk, or distracted driving.
